About Me
Hello! I’m Rob, a mid-level Game Designer with a focus on Technical and Level Design.
As I come to the end of a 4 and a half year stint at Supermassive Games where I’ve worked on various cinematic and gameplay driven experiences – I’m looking to carry the experience I’ve gained to a new home in the Games Industry. My time so far has steeled my passion for working in this space, and I’m committed to lending myself wholeheartedly to the next project in whatever shape or form it may take.
I’ve been lucky enough to have worked on 3 published games thus far with Supermassive, which has given me the chance to work in teams of various sizes, with varying budgets, and varying degrees of autonomy as I improved and took on more responsibilities within the team. This includes seeing all stages of the development process from pre-production up to post-release, as well as working on a handful of pitches and demo teams under tight deadlines.
Whether you put me in a collaborative team environment, or delegate a feature for me to see through to final quality, I’ll see it through. I won’t even get mad when you halve my JIRA estimates, pinkie swear.
Interests
- Unreal Engine
- Level Design
- Blueprinting and Technical Design
- Almost all Videogame Genres
In order to deepen my understanding and appreciation of mechanically oriented games which I’ve always loved to play, I devoted much of my time at University to improving my prototyping and development skills; from placeholder art creation and grey boxing through to scripting mechanics and features.
My time at Supermassive has enriched this with a solid understanding of the more aesthetic end of the Design Discipline through my work in the Cinematic/Adventure Game genre, as well as hardening my existing skillset in Technical and Level Design through my work across various published titles across all phases of the Development Process.
Beyond my ambitions of following Games as my career path, my interests include playing instruments, music composition, E-Sports and film. I believe that broad cross-media knowledge, persistent curiosity, and an open mind is key to bringing new and great ideas into our Industry. I even listen to production sometimes.
